In this beginning wheel class, your instructor Max will teach you about clay and guide you through the steps of using the pottery wheel to make cups, bowls and other simple forms. Our beginning wheel classes are designed to help you build a strong foundation of the basic skills. This class is good for those with little or no clay experience or those who want to refresh their knowledge and skills after some time away.

Over the 8 sessions of your class, you will learn how to center a ball of clay on the wheel, pull up the walls of the clay to form small cylinders and bowls, trim your pot when it reaches the leather hard stage, and how to glaze your new creation.

By the end of this class students will have completed several projects to take home and enjoy. Many students choose to repeat beginning wheel before moving on to intermediate wheel.

This class will meet once per week for 8 consecutive weeks starting on Tuesday, April 4th at 10 am.

Glazes, firing charges and one bag of clay per student are included in the class price. Each student may also have 6 hours of studio time per week outside of their class time to work on projects at the studio.  Community tools are provided or you may bring your own tools. Students get one 24 x 18 x 16 inch shelf to store projects and materials.
