In this class, learn how to use pinching, slabs, and coils to make small scale functional and
decorative projects. Students will be introduced to the proper procedures of working with the
clay, drying their projects, and the bisque and glaze firing processes. Each week will cover a
new technique, including pinched bowls, slab-built mugs and tumblers, and slab-built dishes.
The final projects will culminate in making a coil-built planter with a tray, and lidded jars. Lily will
also teach the glazing process including wax resist, hand dipping, pouring, using dipping tongs,
and brushing glaze. Every week Lily will offer multiple options to explore each technique,
making this class friendly for both those new to clay and those who are looking to continue
adding to their skills.
This class will start on March 6th and end on April 24th.
Glazes, firing fees and one bag of clay is included in the class price. Students can enjoy 24/7 access to the studio to practice their new skills and work on projects. Community tools are provided or you may bring your own. Students get one 24x18x16 inch shelf to store projects and materials.
