Class dates: 5/4-6/22

What the class will cover:

Imagine that first sip out of your very own hand-made mug! Join us for this mug – focused class, for beginners or intermediate level.

Students will practice making slab and pinched mugs, be guided in using rollers and stamps to decorate, create thoughtful handles and how to add detail with underglaze – and full time studio access to practice making mugs to your heart’s content during the class session!

Students will learn how to use the slab roller to create their mugs, and how to pinch the clay by hand on a banding wheel. The first week will focus on slabs, texture rollers, and stamping. The second week we’ll discuss making and attaching slab-built handles to our first mugs.

On the third class we’ll pinch mugs and discuss pinched handles, and how to set up underglaze for sgraffito. The fourth class will go over darting slabs to create interesting forms, and we can put our new decorating skills to use on our last rounds of mugs. The session will culminate with glazing the mugs and picking up pieces, with an informal tea party on the last day!

8 week long studio access – class will meet 6 times due to not meeting on holidays 5/11 and 6/15.
