In this beginning wheel class, Lily will introduce students to the process of pottery with centering the clay, pulling walls, and creating functional shapes like bowls, cups and mugs. Students will be shown how to maintain clean and healthy habits while working with clay, how to trim their pieces before firing, and how to properly glaze their pieces. The first class will focus on centering the clay, the next will be pulling walls into cylinders. Then trimming, throwing bowls, and forming attachments for handles. Lily will give a glaze demo halfway through the session and on the last two classes.
This class will start on January 8th and end on February 26th.
Glazes, firing fees and one bag of clay is included in the class price. Students can enjoy 24/7 access to the studio to practice their new skills and work on projects. Community tools are provided or you may bring your own. Students get one 24x18x16 inch shelf to store projects and materials.
