In this class you will explore intermediate forms and techniques, and walk away with even more confidence in your ability to make functional wheel-thrown pots. Lily will share her methods of finishing each piece, including trimming your pots on and off the wheel, incorporating elements of handbuilding to thrown pieces, and focusing on how to make comfortable rims and handles that are pleasing to use and to look at.

Some of the projects covered include lidded vessels, different forms of dinnerware, and the quintessential mug and tumbler. Our focus will be on building your skills in pulling even walls, centering and throwing larger, and paying attention to the little details that make a successful pot.

Lily will also share her techniques for throwing with coils, throwing off the hump, and darting the clay to alter its form.
