Join us for a one time class on the potters wheel! This is the perfect class for those who want to try out the pottery wheel for a day before committing to a longer class. Your instructor Max will first demonstrate the process of making a cylinder or bowl and then give you individual feedback as you make your own. In this 2 hour class, participants will go through the process of making one pot together with the group, and a second one at their own pace. Once finished, the class will clean up together. *Registration opening Saturday, 5/18 at Noon* Thrown and Altered: Creating Non- Round Forms on the potters wheel, with elements of Hand-Building! Instructed by Lily Williams. In this 4 week intermediate class, students will be guided in the best ways to make their pots functional and joyful to use, while gaining new skills in both throwing and hand-building. Lily will teach students how to make non-round forms from bottomless cylinders, alter their pot’s profile with darting, and various ways of altering the lip of a pot such as rolled and split rims. The class will culminate with glazing the work, and learning to use surface techniques such as water etching and washes to create depth. This three hour class will meet once per week starting and ending on the listed dates. More about classes at Cascade: Glazes, firing charges and one bag of clay per student are included in the class price. Students can enjoy 24/7 access to the studio to work on projects. Community tools are provided or you may bring your own tools. Students get one 24 x 18 x 16 inch shelf to store projects and materials.
