In this intermediate wheel class, students will enhance their wall pulling skills and detail refinement, learn to throw larger amounts of clay, and make various functional pots such as tumblers, plates, pitchers and lidded jars. Week one will be a throwing exercise of making a 4-pull cylinder/tumbler, followed by a trimming demo on week two. The third week will be centering larger pieces of clay to make large bowls and plates, then glaze demo on week four. The last two projects will be a pitcher with a pulled spout, and lidded jars with inset galleries. Lily will also share how to create interesting forms through alterations like darting, paddling and altering rims. This class will start on January 7th and end on February 25th. Glazes, firing fees and one bag of clay is included in the class price. Students can enjoy 24/7 access to the studio to practice their new skills and work on projects. This class is aimed towards folk who want to take their wheel throwing further and will focus on technique and more advanced project ideas. We will cover compound forms, nesting bowls/sets, thrown and altered forms, and lidded vessels. If there is a project you want to do, feel free to bring the idea to class and we can work it into the demos and class structure. Base requirements for the class is the ability to confidently throw 6 inch tall cylinders. This class will start on January 7th and end on February 25th.
