This class will focus on building a foundation of skills for using the pottery wheel to make cylinders and bowls. This is a short class for summer, meeting for two hours instead of three. Class will include a group demo and personal demos/feedback during work time for projects. This is a good class for those who are total beginners with pottery or those who have not touched the wheel for a while and want to refresh their knowledge, or those who are working on learning to throw a cylinder consistently. Students will learn about the stages of clay by using the pottery wheel to form pottery with wet clay, dry it to the right consistency to trim a foot, finish drying the pottery for its first firing, and glaze their work. Many people choose to repeat beginning wheel more than once or twice, until they can center clay and make cylinders without instruction before moving on to an intermediate wheel class. By the end of this class students should have completed several projects to take home and enjoy! Instructed by Max. This two hour class will meet once per week starting and ending on the listed dates JOIN WAITLIST HERE IF CLASS BECOMES FULL  Glazes, firing fees and one bag of clay per student are included in the class price. Similar to membership at Cascade, students can enjoy 24/7 access to the studio to practice their new skills and work on projects. Community tools are provided or you may bring your own tools. Students get one 24 x 18 x 16 inch shelf to store projects and materials. Please read our terms of service and code of conduct before purchasing a class.
